About Us

Vermont’s Free & Referral Clinics (VFRC) – formerly known as the Vermont Coalition of Clinics for the Uninsured (VCCU) – was founded in 1995. VCFR is a (501)(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to increase access to health care for uninsured, underinsured, low-income, and underserved people throughout Vermont. VFRC supports the work of its nine member programs, including five free clinics that provide medical and dental services and four free clinics that refer for health care. All of the member clinics also help eligible people enroll in any of the Vermont Health Connect programs, including expanded Medicaid, the Dr. Dynasaur Medicaid children’s insurance program, and private insurance. Clinics also help find lower cost or free prescription drugs and connect patients and clients with other community services.

The statewide VFRC organization marked its 25th anniversary in 2020.
